This means to remove the brake fluid from the calipers until the brake fluid looks new again. The fluid in the calipers is exposed to extreme temperatures and may have air bubbles also. Bleeding the brakes removes the fluid that has been heated or have bubbles. The fluid may be so bad as to require a complete flush to get clean fluid again. Typically, HPDE drivers bleed their brakes before every event.

Brakes are usually bled in order. Right rear, left rear, front left, front right. There are usually two bleed operations per caliper on high performance cars.

Bleeding is usually a two person job or a brake pressure bleeder device can be used to make it a one person job.
