July has been a great month at Trackpedia. The team visited the Road America HPDE with Nordstern and we added video with telemetry for the track to the wiki. June was our biggest month ever. We had 5000 visitors from 54 countries visit the site.

Easier to find telemetry by car type

The following link allows users to find out what kinds of car we have telemetry for and then which tracks have telemetry for that car. This should make it easier to navigate around.

Telemetry by car type

Trackpedia attends Nordstern Road America HPDE

The team drove to Road America to have a fantastic time at this event. Click here for a full write up.

Road America, CMS and Roebling added to the tracks with Telemetry

We now have 9 tracks with telemetry. You can see a list of the current tracks with telemetry using the following link:

List of tracks with telemetry

We have telemetry from a 350Z drive pretty fast on the course where he ended up with a 2:47 which isn't bad for that car and street tires. We have a video with telemetry of that lap on the Road America wiki page.

We have telemetry for an MR2 doing 2:04 at Carolina Motorsports Park

We have a novice driving a 99 Porsche 996 C4 do a 2:55 in the last session of day 1. Weather intervened on day 2's later sessions to stop any further improvement.

If members of the Trackpedia community want to help with providing telemetry then we set up a calendar showing when it's been loaned out to the community. Please sent a PM (private message) to Billy or John to reserve it.

YouTube Group started

I've started a private YouTube group called trackpedia. This group will be used to protect who can see what videos. Anyone wanting to see the videos in this group should join youtube and then add bnewport as a friend. I'll then add you to the group.

Videoing your HPDE sessions

We've written an article on using low cost digital cameras for videoing a track day. These can be a lot handier and more reliable than a normal camcorder and produce good results. Click Videoing a track day for the article.

Trackpedia sponsors

We've several advertisers with the site and hope our audience will offer them their patronage.

CG Lock

Bruce sells an excellent device which allows the lapbelts on cars with the stock 3pt belts to be tightened which helps keep the driver securely in the seat at track days. It is an inexpensive and easy to install device which fits any seat belt in any car. Visit CG Lock for more information.

Beat Racing LLC

Beat racing offers parts and advice on the up and coming spec Miata race series. You can visit them at Beat Racing's web site.

Tires, the bane of tracking a car

Tire rack still offers probably the best deals on tires on the single highest expense most people have. Please support Trackpedia by visiting tire rack through a link on our site. This provides you with a free way of supporting the site whilst getting the best prices on tires.

Up and coming events

We'll be adding Carolina Motorsports Park in the next week and should have Mosport International Raceway and Circuit Mont-Tremblant in mid August. If you have events you are attending that do not conflict with those dates send us a PM and sign up to borrow the G2Extreme logger and help us gather data on the courses around the US.

Forum traffic

We've had a lot of forum posts over June including topics such as when to move to R compound tires.

Great article on engine compression/tuning by David Vizard

While driving back from the Formula 1 race, we found an awesome article on engine tuning. Check it out.
