Brno is popular with both fans and drivers, and you can always expect great battles all around the track when the W TCC cars visit the Czech Republic. It's a wide circuit with many overtaking opportunities. The circuit is built in a natural bowl which is banked in places to offer spectators an excellent view, this also means that Brno constantly changes in elevation as it sweeps across forested hillsides and its fast undulating corners really test driver talent and engineering to the limit. The track features many slow to midspeed corners with varius radius, and demands a setup that's well balanced at those speeds, but still able to navigate the very fast sweeping first turn. Exit speed is key, as almost all corners lead to a potential overtaking possibility. The 2006 W TCC event at Brno was held in front of a record crowd, the largest for a car race since the new circuit was inaugurated in 1987!

Turn 1 - Over the start/finish line you will be accelerating up into 6th gear with a speed of around 130 mph. Brake hard when you are level with the marshals post on the left of the track and go down to 3rd gear and 80 mph. Try to hold the throttle at a constant level all through the corner, and keep the car in tight to the kerb on the inside. This is a fairly long corner and patience is key, don't try to get on the power too early as you will end up running wide onto the grass and compromising your run down the following straight. When you start to see the corner open out and you spot the exit kerb, then you can start to build up your speed. You will need to shift up to 4th before you hit the exit.

Turn 2 - Following the straight after turn 1 you will once again find yourself in 6th gear approaching the left hander. Brake hard at the 100m board and go down to 3rd gear at around 70 mph. The turn in point for this corner is fairly early in order to hit the apex. On the exit of the corner, try not to let the car run too wide as there is a right hander straight after turn 2.

Turn 3 - Staying in 3rd gear from the previous corner, take the car over to the kerb on the left hand side of the track. Turn in and maintain a speed of around 73 mph. On the exit of the corner, the kerb is not too wide so it is easy to run over it and onto the grass on the other side. This should be avoided as there is another lengthy straight that follows the corner which is essential to obtain a good run onto.

Turn 4 - At the end of the straight you will be in 5th gear at around 120 mph. Brake hard once more at the 100m board and go down to 2nd gear and 65 mph. Turn in fairly early and clip the apex kerb, once you are half way round the corner, short shift up to 3rd gear to provide some extra traction on the exit. This is the first corner in a tricky 3 corner complex.

Turn 5 - Turn 5 comes up on you pretty quickly after you have exited turn 4, stay in 3rd gear and turn in early at around 70 mph. If you take too much kerb on the inside and run over the grass, don't worry, it won't make too much of a difference, but it is still quicker to keep all four wheels on the tarmac. It is easy to clip the grass on the apex because the entrance to the corner is blind. On the exit of the corner, keep the car on the left hand side of the track in preparation for the final corner in the complex.

Turn 6 - Keeping the car over to the left hand side of the corner, as there is no advantage in pulling out to the right, brake and go down to 2nd gear at around 55 mph. Turn 6 opens out on the exit, so be prepare to get on the power quite early. On turn in, follow the kerb on the inside around until you can see your exit kerb on the right of the track. As with turn 4, short shift up to 3rd before you reach the exit to provide some extra traction out of the corner.

Turn 7 - You will have a short brake between turns 6 and 7, so you will be up in 4th gear approaching 7. Brake hard when you reach the kerb on the right hand side of the track and go down to 65 mph in 2nd gear. The clipping point on the apex is quite late on this corner, so you should try to aim to "get round the back of the apex". Once again, short shift up to 3rd gear half way round the corner. Once you are round the corner, try to keep the car over to the left hand side of the track in preparation for the next right hander.

Turn 8 - You will be approaching turn 8 on the left of the track in 3rd gear, gently dab the brakes to steady the car ready to turn in and go down to 2nd gear at 65 mph. This is a frustrating corner as you want to get on the power as soon as you can, but it is very easy to run wide and lose speed on the exit. Short shift up to 3rd before the exit once more.

Turn 9 - After a long straight you will be back up to 6th gear, brake hard just after the 100m board and go down to 70 mph and 3rd gear. Take care under braking as the track runs downhill so it is easy to lock the brakes. Also due to the camber of the corner it is easy to lose the rear end of the car on turn in. To help avoid this, trail braking into the corner will steady the rear of the car. Turn in a follow the kerb round on the inside, keeping an eye out for the exit of the corner. When you see the exit, then you can start to apply the power.

Turn 10 - Now you are heading back up the hill and you will be accelerating up to 4th gear at around 102 mph. As the braking zone is uphill you can attack this corner. Brake hard and go down to 2nd gear at 65 mph and turn in fairly late, don't try to get the power down too early. On the exit, try to keep the car over to the left hand side of the track.

Turn 11 - If you have held off the power enough from turn 10, you should be able to accelerate all through turn 11. It is important to carry as much momentum as you can up the hill on the other side. You will hit the apex at around 75 mph

Turn 12 - After accelerating hard up the hill, brake hard just before you hit the crest of the hill. Go down to 3rd gear and around 80 mph and turn in fairly early. As with turn 10, try to keep the car over to the left hand side of the track to obtain the ideal line for the final corner.

Turn 13 - In a similar way to turn 11, you should be able to apply the power all the way through the corner, hitting the apex at around 90 mph. The corner is quite wide so it allows you to use a lot of the track to try to optimize your run over the start/finish line to complete a lap
